Mekong Church Planting (Southeast Asia)

start a fundraising campaign Send a Note

This project exists to encourage and support the growth of churches in a country bordering Thailand, where recent reports from our partners say that the number of believers has now reached into the thousands. This growth presents a huge opportunity for discipleship, leadership training and church planting. While most believers are from the Khmu tribe, the ministry is now embracing people from among the other 50+ people groups in this country. The challenges are great, but the work has been blessed with courageous and passionate national leadership, resulting in abundant fruit.

Believers in this country face very difficult circumstances, with poverty and government religious opposition being the primary issues of concern. Many of the churches are not permitted to construct a building, meeting instead in home churches that do not need to be registered with the government. Some of these home churches have over 100 members; others choose to stay small and instead expand into new locations, creating a multiplying small church movement in a place where western missionaries are not allowed to openly make disciples.

Donations to this project will go toward support and leadership training of national workers, as well as toward ongoing evangelistic outreach in this country.

  • $2400 will support one worker for one year, providing leaders with a supplement for ministry expenses, such as travel and food for team gatherings.

  • $1,000/month helps multiple teams go out into unreached villages to evangelize, primarily covering gas for motorcycles.

  • $1,500 will buy one motorcycle for an evangelism team.

  • $2-300 will cover expenses for one non-formal leadership training program, using Missional Leadership Training (MLT) resources.

  • $6,000 will cover all MLT training events for one year.
