ESLA (FOCUS) Training for Latino Diaspora in Brazil

start a fundraising campaign Send a Note

Will you help equip leaders for church planting among Latin American immigrants in Brazil?

In recent years, Brazil has received thousands of immigrants and refugees, of whom 73% are from nearby Latin American countries. Trained evangelists and church planters are critically needed to reach this diaspora people group with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

ESLA (Escola de Lideranca Apostlica) is a ministerial training school created by AMCOBIM, the mission agency of the Brazilian MB conference. The main goal of ESLA is to equip missional leaders for reaching the lost and planting churches among Latino refugees and immigrants in urban and rural centers of this country. In teaching the basic doctrines of the Christian faith with an emphasis on Anabaptist distinctives, this school offers theological alignment and vocational coaching for students from a variety of denominations.

The ESLA program consists of three months of training and three months of supervised practical internship in the field. As the vast majority of new immigrants in Brazil settle in São Paulo, the fifth largest city in the world, the ESLA training school is located there. As this scope of this project expands, facilities are being renovated to accommodate more students. Funds donated toward this project will help in subsidizing staff salaries, facilities management and student housing for the duration of each program, run twice annually.
