Naomi House
Would you help make disciples, equip leaders, and bring hope to marginalized people groups in Northern Thailand?
Naomi House is a holistic ministry that exists to bring the hope of the Gospel to at-risk and marginalized people in Northern Thai society; and to provide them with an opportunity for discipleship, leadership coaching, vocational training, sustainable employment, and equipping for evangelism in their communities.
This discipleship center and social enterprise in Luang Neua, a sub-district of Chiang Mai, Thailand, seeks to address the spiritual, social, and economic needs of women-at-risk: refugee women and families who have sought asylum from religious persecution, abused and abandoned wives from northern tribes, and young women released from a local juvenile detention center, where Naomi House ministries are openly acknowledged by prison officials as a highly successful means of rehabilitation for their released prisoners. Because of social discrimination toward ethnic minorities in Thailand, these women are often prevented from finding legitimate employment in mainstream Thai society. Through Naomi House, they are presented with a future that offers restored personal dignity and a saving relationship with God, in whose image they are created. These women and their families are discipled to come to know their own worth and purpose in God’s Kingdom and, as they grow in faith and intercession, to discover their calling to know Jesus and make him known.
As a holistic ministry and social enterprise, Naomi House trains women to create beautiful, quality textile and leather products using locally sourced materials. These products are sold both in Thailand and oversees at fair trade value, and the women receive a wage that allows them to provide for themselves and their families. Because there is no free education in Thailand, this income also provides for their children’s schooling, shifting patterns of poverty through access to education and social integration. Naomi House helps with scholarships to provide uniforms, books, supplies, and school fees until the women are able to sustain these costs independently.
