North Africa Back to School Ministry Project

Each year, hundreds of thousands of children and teens in North Africa drop out of school. The reasons are many: poverty, lack of access, substance abuse, family instability, neglect... It is a heartbreaking crisis, but we know that God has a special future for these young people. 

“Seeds of Opportunity”—the 2025/2026 theme for our Back to School Ministry in this region—is our response. It offers school supplies, transportation, and a practical demonstration of God’s love in an effort to inspire the next generation and see their lives transformed. We are planting seeds of dignity and hope in the lives of North Africa’s at-risk youth.

Thanks to the generous donations of partners like you, last year’s project supported students from primary school to university. God worked powerfully and over 90% of these students achieved academic success. In addition to grades ranging from C to A+, many also overcame difficult home and economic challenges. 

Here is one of the many stories of how this program is impacting young lives. 

Amin

Fourteen-year-old Amin is in the fifth grade. His father is serving a 20-year prison sentence. His mother works cleaning homes and restaurants. We provided a back-to-school packet, a phone, and athletic clothes so he could play with his peers. Amin told us:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a student and have a seat in class. If not for your help, I would be out in the streets living a life no one would wish for.

The needs of the children and teens in North Africa are great. But we know they are not greater than what our Lord can provide. With your partnership in this critical project, we will see many more young people rescued from the harsh realities of the streets, homelessness, drugs, and access challenges.
