Embrace Central Asia: Ministry & Training Center
Multiply has had a significant missional presence in the country in Central Asia since 2015, where courageous followers of Jesus face increasingly hostile opposition. The introduction of new religious controls has resulted in stricter registration requirements for churches, outright bans on evangelism and proselytizing, and harsh punishments for any and all infractions. Punishment may include house arrest, community expulsion, or even physical violence. Even children known to be Christians face bullying at school, with their mothers subjected to social ostracization.
Despite being one of the poorest countries to have emerged out of the Soviet Union, there is an extraordinary wealth of faithfulness. Persecuted national believers continue to champion evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, and church planting; however, they face tremendous obstacles. One of those obstacles is simply that they have no place where they can safely gather together.
Embrace Central Asia envisions the establishment of a Ministry and Training Center to support the health and growth of the conference of local MB churches led by our national partner on the ground, Timur. Having a safe venue in which to gather will provide not only a home for local believers but also a strategic base for local, regional, and international mission networks across Central Asia. The facility will allow for flexible spaces for the training and accommodation of those seeking structured educational programs for ministry, as well as provide a base for short-term mission teams.
A plot of land has been acquired, all necessary permits secured, and construction of the building has reached the shell stage, with the structure now topped by a roof. Funding is needed for the installation of interior and exterior windows and doors, heating and electrical, the finishing of walls and flooring, and adaptation for wheelchair access. When this critical infrastructure work is complete, a final phase will address the development of the outdoor areas.
