I've been serving as a lay leader with the young adult ministry at WMB Church. In the fall of 2025, our community welcomed a growing number of young adults from the African diaspora, which brought new opportunities for discipleship and community.
We welcomed them, walked alongside them as they adjusted to life in Canada, connected them with mentors, and invited them into deeper discipleship. Since then, we've seen many step into leadership within our young adult ministry. Today, 35–50% of our young adult community is made up of people from the African diaspora.
Through this experience, God has given me a vision to expand this work. My desire is to help more young adults from the African diaspora encounter Jesus, be embraced by the local church, grow as disciples, and be equipped to make disciples wherever God has placed them.
