GLOBAL MISSION REPORT

Celebrating 2025

NATIONS WHERE REGIONAL TEAMS ARE SHARING Jesus

OUR FAMILY ON MISSION IN 2025

God is on a Mission. Jesus sends disciples, empowered by the Spirit, on God’s mission to love, reconcile, and transform people of all nations.

Joining God’s Mission. Together, we send disciples to make disciples who make disciples, that the world may know Jesus.

There are still thousands of people groups lost without Jesus. In each of the regions we serve, our network supports teams that are dedicated to loving specific groups of people. This year, 297 MB churches partnered with Multiply in at least one of our three mission strategies.

1

HELPING DISCIPLES MULTIPLY

In 2025, 901 everyday disciples participated in 17 mission training events and programs in North America, and thousands more in our global network participated in similar training, worldwide.

+

2

SENDING OUT MISSIONARIES

In 2025, together we supported 71 long-term workers serving outside of North America.

+

3

PARTNERING WITH NATIONALS

In 2025, we continued to encourage nationals in 69 nations, walking closely with them and connecting them with those in North America who pray, give, and send missionaries where needed.

together that the world may know Jesus

Dear Friends and Partners in the Gospel,

What a joy to share this global mission report with you. Looking back on 2025, I want to express my sincere thanks for the ways you have faithfully prayed, given, and engaged in God's mission. The following pages contain a sampling of faith stories, descriptions of the strategies of our work together, and tangible measures of fruitfulness, as well as financial reporting. It is far from exhaustive, but I hope it will serve as an invitation for you to give praise and glory to God, and realize your place in His great kingdom mission.

Jesus' instructions to His first disciples have been passed down to us: to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses, telling people everywhere about this Good News—from our hometowns to our neighboring communities, our nations, and the far reaches of the earth (Acts 1:8).

We continue to leverage three key strategies that you will see expressed throughout this report. Our goal and mandate is to help everyday disciples multiply and be fruitful, and to send global workers into every region.

So much of our work also involves the privilege of serving alongside and supporting national leaders. They are the ones making disciples and planting churches among their own people groups, bringing the Gospel to the least reached that are in closer proximity to them than to us, both culturally and geographically. This is all part of the Multiply network strategy: missional relationships with national leaders who are connected to our workers and North American churches. What an honor to be a small part of a bigger story.

In 2025, the Multiply board approved the vital roles of a US Regional Team Leader (RTL) and Canadian RTL, signaling a recognition of the local and global work of witness that we are all called to. North America (NA) continues to be a sending region, where we want to support the NA Church in multiplying disciples locally, so that we can also send globally. But we also recognize that the world is coming to us, bringing global mission to our front door through many immigrant people groups.

One of the most fruitful methods of discipleship in many global regions this past year was Discovery Bible Study (DBS). DBS enables everyone to quickly understand and obey Scripture, equipping them to lead others and share their faith in a simple way. While our Missional Leadership Training (MLT) continues to grow and flourish as a critical teaching resource for more established leaders to get deeper into the Word, the simple DBS approach has been a powerful tool for establishing new believers in the Word and helping them learn what it means to know and follow Jesus.

"God made the nations so they would seek him, perhaps even reach out to him and find him. In fact, God isn’t far away from any of us" (CEB - Acts 17:27). God is near, pursuing us, and longs for the people of all nations to seek Him. Thank you for joining in this invitation to be His witnesses, locally and globally.

May His kingdom come, His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Regional Reports

Asia

“We recently completed our first disciple movement training, bringing together thirty national leaders from five Asian nations: Laos, Thai-Isaan, B*, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This gathering was the fulfillment of a dream God placed on my heart almost a year ago, to bring our emerging MB church conferences and leaders together—especially those who had not yet been trained in simple church planting. Our dream was not only to teach Discovery Bible Study (DBS) in a classroom but to bring our trainees into the harvest to witness the Holy Spirit working through brand-new Isaan believers, some only two months in the faith, who are already leading their families and villages to Christ. As our team visited nine simple house churches in the Phon Phi Sai region, leaders watched ordinary believers confidently lead Scripture discussions and prayer. One national leader from the Philippines reflected, ‘I see now that true leadership means empowering others. DBS will help me raise up new leaders so the church can multiply.’”

Faith and Skills Training in Mongolia: At Mongolia's Trees of Life Center, Multiply and its local collaborators offer discipleship programs and vocational training in permaculture. Their efforts aim to build well-rounded, faith-driven communities by emphasizing hospitality and hands-on skill development.

Discipleship Movements

Our God continues to do amazing things. In 2025, we saw Him draw many people to Himself through everyday disciples who make disciples who make disciples. The missional strategy of equipping new believers to share their faith and start new Bible study groups right away, has been producing fruit in many regions of the world. Multiply global workers and partners who have incorporated elements from one particular discipleship movement are testifying to its effectiveness in their context.

WHAT ARE THE HALLMARKS OF THESE DISCIPLESHIP MOVEMENTS?

Through tools like Discovery Bible Study—an inductive Bible study that can be held anywhere, any time, and led by anyone—these discipleship movements emphasize fellowship, stories from the Bible, prayer, and practical training to help people demonstrate the Kingdom of God in their everyday lives. At times, complicated leadership structures and costly buildings can be an impediment to discipleship growth.

Every discipleship strategy has its challenges. They require prayerful supervision and ongoing training of leadership to ensure spiritual maturity, and to avoid an emphasis on numbers rather than genuine faith. But, properly implemented, they clearly have the potential to be used by God to make disciples–not only of individuals, but families, communities, and people groups.

WHAT DO THESE DISCIPLESHIP MOVEMENTS LOOK LIKE IN THE FIELD?

Louise Sinclair-Peters, Multiply’s Regional Team Leader for Asia, has served in that region for over twenty-five years. She’s tried many ways to share the Gospel and make disciples among Buddhist, animist, and Muslim people. Being a missionary, she explains, has traditionally meant preaching and teaching—leading, as people listened like an audience. “You never knew how much they actually believed and obeyed the Word of God. This curriculum [DBS] is obedience-based discipleship. It’s a simple model that gathers people who want to follow Jesus.”

Last year, Louise and her team completed their first discipleship movement training in Asia with thirty leaders from Laos, Thai-Isaan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines. One of the leaders reflected after the training, “I used to do all the teaching in our churches. I see now that I wasn’t raising up leaders because I wasn’t empowering anyone else to lead. Now I want to train more leaders. I have a greater understanding now as to how the Holy Spirit brings multiplication.”

Louise says she and her team have seen more growth in the past few years, since implementing these tools, than in the previous two decades. “There seems to be so much at stake when someone is on a stage. There’s so much potential for power and pride to enter in. But when you’re sitting in someone’s home on the floor, and they’ve got their grandma, and their niece, and their ducks and chickens, and you’re all just sitting there, there’s no professionalism needed.”

Louise now shares this methodology with both leaders in Asia and Multiply workers preparing to go overseas. “I go every year now to FOCUS training and teach about discipleship movements to our new missionaries.”

WHAT ABOUT NORTH AMERICA?

Derek Parenteau, Multiply’s Regional Team Leader for Canada, has been a missionary for almost twenty-five years. His experience has involved mission activities such as outreach programs, urban ministry, working with victims of human trafficking, gangs, and also with the indigenous population. In hindsight, he sees most of his efforts were aimed at “addition” rather than “multiplication.”

“It yielded results and people came to Christ, but capacity set the ceiling,” Derek says. After about a decade of that, Derek and his team heard God saying: “I want to teach you to do something new. There’s another way.”

That’s when a mentor came to Derek and shared the fundamentals of discipleship movements. At first, the stories he heard sounded too good to be true. But as he went through training, Derek realized that what he was learning was simple, reproducible, and biblical.

“A lot of the teaching is structured around Luke 10:1-20,” he says, “that God has people of peace embedded in different communities and areas who are catalysts for spreading the Gospel. It’s not our job to do the whole thing but to prayerfully seek out those folks and come alongside them as they open their regions to the Good News. That can multiply!”

The key, Derek emphasizes, is believing God’s Word. “If you believe the Holy Spirit is already working ahead of you and that there’s actually a plan that God has—a Kingdom strategy that involves people of peace—that’s big! It’s a shift from individual evangelism to household evangelism.”

Multiply is seeing more and more movements of disciples making disciples in Asia, as well as in other parts of the world. It’s also slowly gaining traction in North America. Could this be effective in reaching the lost and hurting in your nation, community, or neighborhood?

Sub-Saharan Africa

“Our focus this year has been on the all-encompassing, affecting-everything Kingdom of God. Alignment around God’s Kingdom was the subject of our annual African leader summit. Leaders committed to changes in their families, in their finances, and in their ministries. There was agreement that we needed to see differently. Trainings in Malawi, in Burundi, and in Ethiopia had the same focus."

~ DOUG HIEBERT    REGIONAL TEAM LEADER FOR SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

Training Leaders in Seventy Churches: Regional Team Leader, Doug Hiebert, continues to champion Missional Leadership Training (MLT) for leaders from over seventy MB churches in Sub-Saharan Africa. MLT training has been particularly useful in Malawi and Angola, where the Church is experiencing rapid growth among the poor, and leaders have no access to formal seminary education. Multiply is also exploring new partnerships in places such as Namibia and Kenya.

Equipping Nationals to be Self-Sustaining: Workers in Burundi are leaning into community development, business as mission ventures for nationals, and quality Christian education for children. In Malawi, approximately 150 church leaders were trained on the Kingdom of God. It was amazing to see their eyes being opened regarding their identity, their resources, and God’s calling on their lives. This is sure to be passed on to their congregants.

Diaspora Ministry in the USA: In the USA, a growing and vibrant church movement is emerging among diaspora groups from DR Congo and other African nations.

Sending Short-term Teams to Uganda and Burundi: Short-term teams from North America continue to be a great encouragement to nationals in this region. In May, an ACTION team from the US helped run a children’s program with children at the King's Kid School in Uganda. In Burundi, a short-term mission team from Canada joined our two global workers on the ground and helped facilitate summer camps for nearly two hundred children; days filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful discoveries about Jesus.

Supporting Education Among the Poor: In Burundi, we partner with the Karubabi Harvest School, providing education for the marginalized Batwa Pygmy people. In Uganda, Multiply workers partner with King's Kid School and farm, where one Multiply missionary is helping to implement a new method of regenerative farming to better provide for students and staff.

Crisis Humanitarian Aid in DR Congo: With the resurgence of violence and deepening humanitarian crisis unfolding in DR Congo, Multiply—in partnership with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)—was able to distribute corn flour and other essential supplies across this region. National partner, Pastor Nzuzi Mukawa, was able to visit twenty rural villages in Kwango for over a month, bringing a tangible expression of God’s love through his team of forty-five teachers, evangelists, doctors, nurses, and intercessors.

Middle East and North Africa

“This year, I was deeply encouraged by the resilience and faith of our regional ministry partners across the Middle East and North Africa. In places marked by pressure and uncertainty, they continued to share the hope of Jesus with boldness and love. I thank God for the new disciples formed this year, the creative ways Scripture is being shared, and the growing unity among leaders who support one another across borders. Please continue praying for protection, wisdom, and open doors as we walk together into all that God is unfolding in this region.”

Across the Middle East and North Africa, regional ministry partners continued to nurture growing discipleship movements marked by courage, creativity, and steady faithfulness.

North Africa: House fellowships continued to meet quietly despite scrutiny, and media outreach connected many seekers with Scripture and follow-up conversations. Several new small groups began meeting as individuals took first steps toward faith.

Sahel Region: New fellowships among displaced communities continued to emerge, especially in refugee settings. Young believers stepped into leadership roles, helping disciple peers and expand outreach into neighboring areas.

Levant: Discipleship training among local and diaspora communities strengthened this year, with youth gatherings and mentoring relationships encouraging bold witness in daily life.

Arabia: Despite increased pressure in several locations, ministry partners continued to meet discreetly with seekers and new believers. Personal relationships remained key, as quiet but meaningful transformation took place.

Regional ministry partners continued to travel between nearby nations, encouraging emerging fellowships and supporting new discipleship efforts. Long-term workers from within the region advanced in language learning and cultural engagement.

North American workers also moved forward this year. Charles D. launched into initial ministry in the Arabian Peninsula, while Jan H. continued preparations for future placement through language study, cultural training, and mentorship.

Collaborative teams—made up of both national and foreign-born believers—used everyday activities, hospitality, and community service to build friendships and open natural avenues for spiritual conversations.

Partnership and mutual care remained essential across the region as leaders navigated pressure, social challenges, and spiritual opposition.

North Africa: Believers supported one another while facing interrogation and social isolation. Despite these challenges, testimonies of perseverance and new fellowships continued.

Sahel Region: Prayer networks and mutual care efforts strengthened leaders serving in high- risk contexts, including those ministering among displaced families.

Levant: Partners collaborated in prayer, training, and Scripture distribution. Intercessory networks grew, especially in communities affected by economic or political strain.

Arabia: Several ministry partners faced legal or social pressure this year, yet continued to minister faithfully. Secure communication and pastoral guidance helped sustain fellowship where gathering openly was not possible.

Throughout all four regions, leaders remained connected through online mentoring, prayer calls, and periodic gatherings, strengthening unity and shared mission.

Central & South America

“In a small indigenous village in the Amazon, a father handed us his six-year-old daughter—a beautiful little girl, paralyzed from the neck down—and asked us to pray for her healing. We prayed, and continued the journey in our boat. The next day, the father sent a video of her crawling... Two days later, she was walking!”

Global Training Platform: This last year, national directors of mission training programs in Mexico (HADIME), Colombia (HEME AQUI), Canada (FOCUS), and Brazil (ESLA) defined a new format for equipping for local and global mission: the Global Training Platform. This collaboration has already seen North American FOCUS participants sent to Brazil for practical training, and a group from Brazil equipped through the Antioch school in Canada, led by Regional Team Leader, Derek Parenteau. In Costa Rica, a missionary conference was held that trained 168 pastors from over 5,000 Latin American churches from Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil. A relationship was also forged with leaders from Chile, with plans to launch a training event in March 2026 to reach over 300 leaders in that nation. Praise God for opportunities to train and mobilize Latinos for local and global mission!

Sending the Next Generation: In July 2025, we held our first short-term mission school in Costa Rica, where we have been investing for some years. Sixty young people and leaders were trained and sent on mission into their communities. Next year, we will have four such events, taking place in Costa Rica as well as Honduras. Earlier in the year, a team of leaders came from Paraguay to join a mission expedition to marginalized communities in Northern Brazil. This partnership will be repeated next year, serving church planting initiatives among Venezuelan and Cuban immigrants in Southern Brazil. Ubiratan and Selvira de Ávila, a couple from Brazil, were mobilized to help with evangelism and church planting in Portugal, where there is a growing diaspora of Brazilians.

Peru: Multiply's Pablo and Maricela Chavez completed their first term in Peru, receiving a very clear invitation to come back and continue partnering with the Peruvian MB conference in offering leadership training, conflict resolution and marriage and family workshops. They walk in the footsteps of Stacy Khuns, completing eighteen years of faithful service in this country.

A Clear Invitation: A new church plant was launched in the city of Bucaramanga, in partnership with Pastor José Prada of the Colombian MB Conference. In the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, partnership with indigenous people groups resulted in 280 baptisms in the more than thirty churches planted there. Two more couples, trained through ESLA (Brazil FOCUS) have now joined the seven couples already working with the twelve indigenous church plants.

Panama: Einer and Girlesa Zuluaga continue raising up and partnering with national leaders from the indigenous Wounaan people group, recently sending a team to Colombia to encourage new Wounaan believers facing persecution from indigenous animists and religious traditionalists.

Six Years in the River: A Reflection from the Middle East & North Africa

NASSER AL'QAHTANI  ⁄  REGIONAL TEAM LEADER FOR THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA

When I stepped into this role with Multiply in December of 2019, our work in the Middle East and North Africa was small and quiet—primarily a media ministry and a few courageous believers meeting in scattered house fellowships. What existed then was fragile, yet full of faith and promise. These early relationships became the seeds of something much larger than any of us could have anticipated.

Six years later, that simple beginning has grown into a movement now active in thirty nations. What started as scattered streams of ministry has become what we now call the River of Life Network: a growing family of indigenous leaders, almost all from Muslim backgrounds, who courageously follow Jesus, serve their communities, and help one another multiply disciples in some of the world’s most spiritually dry places.

The River of Life has never been an organization and has never sought to become one. It does not hold funds or claim authority. It exists to strengthen relationships— helping followers of Jesus connect, encourage one another, and walk faithfully in their own nations—most of which are over ninety-five percent Muslim. I serve as the primary facilitator of this network, but the movement is carried by the Holy Spirit and shaped by the obedience of the men and women who live it out daily. Over these years, the Church has grown quietly under pressure. Leaders have chosen prayer over fear; disciples have chosen love over silence. None of this is the work of one person or one team. It is the Lord’s doing.

Throughout North Africa, I have watched house fellowships multiply even under scrutiny. Families who once had no access to a church now gather weekly to pray, study the Scriptures, and encourage one another. Media outreach from this area alone has connected hundreds of thousands with the Gospel, opening doors for conversations, prayer, and Scripture distribution.

In Egypt and among the Sudanese diaspora, a remarkable youth movement has taken root, shaped in large part by the Antioch Mission School—a ministry the Holy Spirit birthed through Brother Irfan and myself in obedience to His leading. Our first gathering in Sudan unleashed a wave of bold witness, as young believers discovered freedom in the Spirit and the courage to walk in truth. That fire has continued to spread, with each new training event raising up another generation of disciples committed to sharing Christ wherever He sends them.

In Tunisia, newly written worship songs in local dialects have become expressions of joy for believers who once worshiped in borrowed languages. Across the Sahel—in Darfur, Chad, South Sudan, and Uganda—new fellowships have emerged in refugee camps and border regions, where the Gospel is shared alongside simple acts of compassion. It has been humbling to see the faith of those who have lost everything, yet have found life and hope in Christ.

In the Levant, young leaders have stepped forward to disciple peers, encourage seekers, and strengthen scattered believers through small gatherings and online mentoring. In the Arabian Peninsula, ministry partners have faced interrogation, social pressure, and significant risk, yet they continue to meet discreetly with seekers and new believers, sharing hope with wisdom and courage. The quiet testimonies emerging from this area are some of the most powerful I have ever witnessed.

Through the regional ministry partners we directly walk alongside, we estimate that more than 1.3 million individuals have heard the Gospel for the first time since 2020. Thousands have come to faith, hundreds have been baptized, and roughly 1,500 house fellowships now meet across the region. When we consider the second- and third-generation disciples raised up by those we first trained, the broader community now represents approximately 30,000 believers. These numbers tell a story far greater than our efforts—they bear witness to what God has done.

I have not walked this road alone. Behind the scenes, a faithful support team in North America has strengthened this work in ways most people will never see. Chase has coordinated logistics and communication, ensuring that complex travel and sensitive correspondence remain smooth and secure. Andrew has provided crucial translation and helped share stories from the field. Sultan has offered pastoral care to many leaders who could not safely meet in person. Their partnership has allowed me to focus on connecting leaders, encouraging them, and going where the Spirit leads.

Along the way, we have also partnered with networks and mission movements from around the world. Many of these are led by foreign workers, and we value their presence deeply. Our contribution has been the perspective and leadership of local believers who understand their communities from within. Together, we strengthen the Body of Christ across the Muslim world—each part carrying its share of the work.

Every year, gatherings of leaders and their families have become sacred spaces of renewal. For many, these moments are the first time they have met others from their own background who share their faith and calling. We have prayed, worshiped, healed, and learned together. These gatherings have reminded us again and again that unity is not a strategy but a miracle of the Spirit.

Unity is not a strategy but a miracle of the Spirit.

Looking back over these six years, I can only respond with gratitude. From five nations to thirty. From a few house churches to a network of 1,500. From scattered individuals to a growing family of 30,000 believers. Even in places where believers remain few, the light of Christ shines brighter every year. The River of Life network continues to widen as more leaders join hands, more disciples are formed, and more nations are touched by the transforming grace of Jesus.

“Then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy, for waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.” — Isaiah 35:6 (ESV)

Strengthening Families and Making Disciples: Mennonite Brethren leaders in this region carry a vision to reach tribal people groups. Located in remote forests where travel is difficult, very few villages have heard the Gospel. Church Extension Workers, have been living among the people for several years, it is only more recently that several believers have themselves began reaching out to their own people. Living locally and speaking the local language means that they are not limited, allowing the Gospel to now spread among the villages, particularly young people.

Training Local Leadership: In a network in the north, lay leaders need to work to support their families while also leading local churches or house fellowships, and have no access to formal ministry training. Missional Leadership Training (MLT), developed through a partnership between the International Community of Mennonite Brethren [ICOMB], Multiply and MB Seminary, provides an opportunity for national leaders to train their own church leaders. Network leaders teach MLT to a group of fifty church leaders every Friday evening by video conference, with manuals translated into Hindi to provide each participant with resources for teaching and equipping their own local churches.

Canada

"Across Canada we are witnessing a growing movement of everyday disciples who are desiring to be bold proclaimers of the Good News in their daily lives. We have the amazing problem of needing to mobilize vastly more training and equipping to meet the demand, especially among younger people, whose love for Jesus is spilling out into the streets."

HELPING EVERYDAY DISCIPLES MULTIPLY

Equipping the Church in Mission: In this region, we respond to invitations from local churches and MB conferences to assist in mobilizing and training everyday missionaries. These trainings are highly contextualized to meet the needs and the calling of each partner. This year we partnered with churches to provide training in areas such as evangelism, prayer ministry, disciple making and cross-cultural awareness.

Multiply’s SOAR programs equip everyday disciples to step confidently into God’s mission—right where they are, and to the ends of the earth. Through hands-on training, cross-cultural immersion, and intentional mentoring, over 600 participants in 2025 learned to listen to the Holy Spirit, share their faith naturally, and disciple others in simple, reproducible ways. SOAR helps ordinary believers discover that God can use them powerfully, turning everyday obedience into multiplying impact.

Empowering First Nations Disciple Makers: The Holy Spirit is moving powerfully among First Nations across Canada. Multiply has workers who are serving over a dozen of these First Nations by supporting existing churches, planting simple churches, and equipping indigenous leaders. This year, we partnered with the Ontario MB conference (ONMB) to help launch Kings House, which is a sober-living discipleship house for First Nations men, and to start Chains Will Fall, a discipleship community primarily for indigenous people transitioning out of the legal system.

Multiply continues to train and send missionaries to partner with the local Church in each global context of over seventy countries. Long-term workers from North America are involved in equipping and mentoring national partners, providing administrative support to national leaders in their host countries, strategizing for holistic community development projects among the poor, and working closely with local churches and church-planting teams to find contextual ways to reach the lost. Some of our workers come alongside believers in regions hostile to the Gospel, helping to connect them with the fellowship and training they long for, to bring transformation to their people groups.

New Workers Mobilized: This year, new Canadian workers completed their training through FOCUS in Canada and launched into the global assignment portion of this program, and an ACTION Panama team was also mobilized. Danny and Cynthia Asirit in the Philippines, Lawrie and Jummee Dean in Thailand, and Grant and Rachel in a restricted-access nation in Africa are currently participating in Focus Training as they prepare for long-term mission. An Action Panama team was also mobilized.

Fifteen Canadians received the Impact Award this year, launching them as young adult missionaries onto university campuses across the country. The world is coming to us, and the Impact Awards are an exciting opportunity for global mission on our local campuses. Scholarship winners join God's mission, praying intentionally for their classmates, sharing the Gospel with courage, and starting Discovery Bible Studies in the midst of everyday student life. Through mentoring and hands-on experience, they are learning to think missionally in whatever setting they find themselves—becoming disciples who multiply disciples.

3
PARTNERING WITH NATIONALS
-

TREK and ACTION: At the heart of these two mission training programs is the belief that we are all called to live on mission in our context. Imagine that we all lived as missionaries in the places we call home—wherever we are. Through ACTION and TREK, Multiply offers training for everyday disciples to become disciple-makers in their chosen mission fields—whether near to home or far. Both programs train and send teams on short-term cross-cultural assignments to places like Brazil, Japan, and Uganda, to prepare and empower individuals to embrace a lifelong mission.

First Nations Ministry: When people hit rock bottom, they’re often ready to encounter Jesus, and then, often very quickly, Jesus sends them out as everyday missionaries! A First Nations friend of ours named John met Jesus in prison. We shared the Gospel with him, prayed for him, and then he had a vision of Jesus who spoke to John’s painful past and healed him, right there in his prison cell! John was so excited that called his children, his friends, and even his ex-girlfriends to tell them all about it. John began leading Bible studies in prison and then later out in his community. He is a radical everyday missionary whose testimony is changing lives!

Multiplying Young Disciple-Makers: One of the key outcomes of our mission training programs is partnering with local churches and youth pastors to support them in developing authentic discipleship communities. Although many churches are seeing a decrease in youth attendance, there are also many young people who are crying out for authentic discipleship. Programs like SOAR, ACTION, TREK, and the Impact Award all focus on equipping local church leaders and their young adults on how to share their faith genuinely in their friendships and to develop authentic communities of discipleship.

Multiplying Missional Leaders: The USMB initiated a four-month Lead Cohort to help train and equip MB church leaders across the US. Multiply staff participated and led one track on Personal Outreach Equipping, which was an outstanding setting for small-group online equipping, prayer, and accountability. A similar one is planned for the future.  One participant commented, “This type of cohort is a NEED in the North American church because it prompts people to not just listen, but rather listen and obey the voice of God for the world around them!”

USA

“Many young people are recognizing their calling to live missionally. They are being empowered and encouraged by the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel in their daily interactions.”

HELPING EVERYDAY DISCIPLES MULTIPLY
-

Engaging Youth in Cross-cultural Experience: Multiply serves the MB Church in America through a variety of short- term mission training programs. These include SOAR, ACTION, FOCUS, and Life on Mission—an exciting opportunity for youth to engage in a unique, cross-cultural experience, growing their faith and being equipped to take the Good News of Jesus into their communities. Multiply’s Life on Mission, held in March 2025 in Oregon, brought together participants from three ethnic groups to be inspired and challenged to consider what it means to join God on His mission—through both everyday discipleship and full-time missionary service.

Discovering God’s Heart for the Local Community: The SOAR program is a missional discipleship experience that brings teams together to grow in their relationship with Jesus and discover God’s heart for the world. SOAR Wichita, held in March 2025, had sixty participants from five churches and was so successful that plans are being made for a SOAR Omaha and SOAR Hillsboro in 2026. SOAR California, held in July 2025, drew seventy participants from ten churches. At the commissioning ceremony, attendees reaffirmed their commitment to “make disciples of all nations” through local and global mission.

SENDING MISSIONARIES
-

From Short-term to Long-term Service: Multiply supports local churches throughout the United States in training, equipping, and sending missionaries to partner with the local church in the global context and to partner with national leaders in sixty-nine countries where we collaborate in mutuality, working and learning together to make disciples.

Charles D. put his faith in Jesus in 2019 and knew that he wanted to serve God, but wasn’t sure what that would look like until a short-term trip in 2021. He was sent to his assignment in the Arabian Peninsula in the summer of 2025.

Jan H. also began her journey to long-term mission with a short-term trip. She is currently engaged in partnership development, raising support for her upcoming deployment.

Kyla I. is from Wichita and has been training for her internship in Winnipeg. She was recently sent to France where she will be serving alongside long-term missionaries and supporting the local church as she discerns her next steps for long-term ministry. “We are each called into missional obedience as followers of Christ,” Kyla reflects. “I am thankful for the group that God has brought together in this season to serve through the FOCUS program.”

PARTNERING WITH NATIONALS
-

Equipping North Americans to Reach Muslims: Multiply is committed to empowering nationals around the world to reach and disciple their own people groups. Within the USA, we partner with national leaders and emerging leaders from the U.S. Church, helping them be on mission in their own community, as well as supporting global mission. Nasser al’Qahtani, Regional Team Leader for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), is an excellent speaker and workshop facilitator who partners with local American churches to teach best practices for reaching Muslims with the Gospel.

Partnering in Ethiopia: Multiply recently began engaging with Ethiopian pastors in the U.S. to reach Ethiopia with the Good News and plant churches in that challenging region of Africa, supporting the work that God is doing through national pastors and leaders.

From the Neighborhood to the Nations

What does it mean to join God on His mission? How has our perspective changed, from one generation to the next, and what does that mean for the future?

There has been a steady decline in traditional missionaries being sent abroad from North America, and rising secularism means fewer people entering into theological studies to prepare themselves for this vocation. Churches no longer automatically write "mission support" into their annual budgets. Gone are the days when young adults were eager to “sign up for Sudan.” Yet, the need for the Gospel to be shared is more urgent now than ever before. Where are all the missionaries?

They are right here. They are us.

Jesus’ Great Commission to “Go and make disciples of all nations” has, until relatively recently, always assumed an exclusively global context. However, according to Jesus, we are all meant to be on mission, regardless of whether or not we ever leave our country, city, or street. And today’s young adults are awakening to that calling, allowing their perspectives on mission—and their very lives—to be transformed.

Responding to God’s call to be on mission wherever we are is an open-ended adventure. Over many years, Multiply workers have engaged people in missional mentorship, helping them grow in passion and confidence to move from the sidelines to the frontlines of mission. Those who learn to live on mission in their own community then realize that they are actually part of a global team—the Church. For many, this realization leads them to step into full-time ministry or long-term global service.

Here are some of their stories:
“Carol Letkeman came and presented at my university and shared about how there are many places where English is a tool that can be used to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so I'm thankful for that connection and the way that [Multiply] facilitated my process of both becoming a global servant for a period of time, and also just their support along the way in my journey to becoming a long term missionary in Thailand.”

REBECCA HIEBERT ⁄ MULTIPLY MISSIONARY, THAILAND
“It was Stephen Humber who came to our church and connected me with an ACTION trip to a country in the Middle East. During training, I learned that God has this huge, awesome design for the world—an original design for us to live in community with Him. When we got to the country, I remember standing on the edge of a mountain with a local missionary, overlooking a city. He said, ‘Jake, one day all of these people will kneel before God and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.’ I was entirely changed because of that trip. Now, I can't wait to go wherever the Lord sends me!”

JAKE GOERTZEN ⁄ MULTIPLY ACTION PARTICIPANT
“As a young adult, I felt called to ministry but was unsure how to act on it. I still remember meeting with Lloyd and Carol Letkeman, and sitting down on the too-small-for-adult chairs of a Sunday school room to talk about mission. I was encouraged and challenged in ways I didn't even know I needed. They helped me to discern next steps—first with the inner city mission called SOAR, then overseas. It was everything I was looking for, challenging me to step out in faith. I have now been in full- time ministry for nearly a decade!”

STEFAN KLASSEN ⁄ PASTOR AT STEINBACH MB CHURCH, MANITOBA
“The Lord has done some amazing things! All of my experiences with Multiply have been so meaningful in my journey with Jesus. The discipleship I received from the TREK leadership team impacted my life—people like Luke and Joanne Haidle, John and Christy Best, team leaders Sarah Siemens and Maggie Graham. Luke had some great quotes! One I will always remember is, ‘God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called!’”

LEAH REMBOLDT ⁄ TABOR COLLEGE, KANSAS
Relational discipleship is expanding the horizon of mission, locally and globally. Within an increasingly impersonal, online world, more programs are not what is needed, but more connection. At Multiply, we have a passion to help churches in the U.S. and Canada equip everyday disciples to take the Gospel message to the lost, everywhere. Together, let’s keep recruiting, equipping, training, and sending mission-minded people of all demographics for local and global mission—from the neighborhood to the nations.
