Mexico
With over 120 million people, Mexico is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world, although it is a growing nation that is searching for its own identity. There are ongoing tensions between the Mesoamerican origins of the people and their Hispanic history. Turbulent relationships with surrounding nations have also shaped Mexico. This search often manifests itself through rigid religious identity (typically Animist or Catholic) and, though the Protestant church has seen steady growth in the past fifty years, there still exists a strong anti-Protestant sentiment among many. As the Church matures, so has its understanding of what it is to be a church on mission, reaching out to fellow Mexicans and also reaching out to all the nations. Our Mexico Team is spreading the Gospel by planting churches, discipling believers, and training leaders. Our work is presently focused in Guadalajara and among the marginalized Mixtec people of southern Mexico. We invite you to join our team in Mexico by praying, giving to further the ministry, and/or serving with us. As we work together, Mexico will know Jesus. Could this be your team?
