So often we feel discouraged in doing outreach and discipleship at Roses Church, the outdoor gathering we host at Triangle Park in Osaka. Then we get mind-blowing glimpses into just how much Jesus is willing to go out of his way in order to show us that he loves us!
It was two weeks ago, while we were singing worship songs in the park, when a Gaijin couple walked by on the street. When they came , we asked them what had brought them to this neighborhood, and we found out that God had sent them to this specific location all the way from Louisiana!
The man, whose name was George, said, “I’m not the kind of guy that has visions, but I had a vision that I was standing in Gifu City and there was a line pointing through Osaka. Then, I heard a voice saying, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges.’ So, when I found out that this neighborhood was one of the poorest places in Japan, we came here. I guess that kind of makes us missionaries!”
What a great time we had encouraging one another and sharing stories! These are not the first people that God had sent to us from far away, to this place of “highways and hedges” in Triangle Park. Some time ago, a lady from New York showed up here at Roses Church. She told us that she had been praying and searching on the internet for three years and felt that, out of all the places in Japan, God was sending her to this particular park! Then there were the two other couples that the Holy Spirit had sent to our church in the last two months. One couple had been prompted by another Christian to come and serve with us, and another couple had felt that this was the exact location where God wanted them to serve helping to set people free from spiritual bondage.
Even as we were sharing these stories with the couple from Louisiana, another man walked across the grass toward us, wanting to repent and believe in Jesus. The Holy Spirit is bringing his people to serve along the highways and hedges of Osaka, Japan! Is he calling you to join us, too?
