On October 27, Mr. Aditya and his wife came to our church in Faridabad for the first time. His wife was possessed by a demon.
Mr. Aditya was at his wit’s end. His wife was out of control. Every day, she would throw utensils at him, screaming and shouting. And her voice was like the deep voice of a man; it was not even her own voice. Her husband was terrified of her.
Bringing his wife to a church was a last resort. Mr. Aditya had first taken her to a witch doctor, who tried by various rites to rid her of the evil spirit that was afflicting her, but had no success. At the last sitting, the witch doctor said something astonishing.
“This is a very powerful spirit,” the witch doctor told Mr. Aditya. “I am unable to cast it out. You must visit a Christian church for three consecutive Sundays. Their god can deliver her from every bad thing. Then, you will definitely get relief.”
Surprised, Mr. Aditya began asking people in his community where he could find a Christian church. In this way, he came into contact with Mr. Ram from the church in Faridabad. Hearing about the witch doctor’s instructions, Mr. Ram exclaimed, “Three Sundays? Jesus Christ is the Lord of all! His name is above all other names! You need a relationship with the true, living God—not for three Sundays, but for your whole life!”
So it was that on that Sunday in October, Mr. Aditya and his wife came to the church in Faridabad. He described his wife’s affliction, and begged for help, expecting the pastor to perform some magical rite like the witch doctor had done. Instead, the congregation simply sang praises to God. At first, his wife was aggressive and loud, but then she grew still. Without anyone even touching her or praying over her, her reason returned. When Mr. Aditya asked his wife how she was, she replied, “I am fine, husband. Only tired.” They went home that day full of wonder at what God had done.
The next Sunday, and each Sunday after that, Mr. Aditya and his wife returned to the church. She is totally changed—happy and confident! The pastor welcomes them, glad that they keep coming to worship Jesus, the one who saves us from every bad thing.
