But I Knew How to Pray

My name is Salai Yaw Han, and I live in the Kabin Buri district of Thailand. As a new believer, I had vision to start a small house church fellowship, and so I did. That is when I realized that vision alone is not enough. It was actually very difficult for me. I had very little experience teaching the Word of God—how could I encourage all these new believers? I had very little experience sharing the Gospel—how could I do evangelism? I had only ever planted one small fellowship—how could I start planting more churches in a new area? How could I even make disciples? I knew so little.

But I knew how to pray, and so I did.

I began to pray earnestly that God would equip me to be used in his Kingdom and teach me what I did not know. It was then that, by his grace, I heard about a local Bible School which supporters of Multiply help to fund. I began to study at this school and, over time, I have learned so much. As an intern, I have learned how to prepare and teach the Bible in ways that my church members can really understand. I have learned how to preach the Gospel effectively, and I have learned how to introduce people to Jesus. I was also taught, very practically, how to disciple new believers. This training has been an answer to my prayers!

The day came when I tried to put into practice all that I learned. It was still very difficult! So easy to talk about; so much harder to put into practice. But I still knew how to pray, and so I did. As I have been praying, God has given me strength and ability to persevere, and recently I had the honor of helping two brand new believers to be equipped to make disciples themselves!

God helps us do things that we cannot do. He reveals to us the things that we do not know—through his Word, and through other believers who teach us. May God bless all who are still a part of my discipleship journey!
