Urgent Relief: Tigray, Ethiopia
Believers in Ethiopia already face increasing opposition and persecution for their faith—many lose their jobs, are expelled from school, experience rejection from their families, and are even denied a place to bury their dead. Despite this, they are seeking to be faithful followers of Jesus, sharing the truth of Scripture and the love of God with their neighbors.
Now, they are facing the added hardship of war.
Escalated fighting between Ethiopia's federal forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) has sent tensions soaring, while the humanitarian impact has created severe distress and the disruption of essential services for civilians. As forces threaten to advance in the city of Mekele, citizens are already experiencing the fallout.
Two of Multiply’s key national partners in Ethiopia are ready to purchase goods and distribute them in collaboration with local church leaders. Receiving food and cooking supplies for a season will serve to strengthen the resolve of those who are suffering, knowing that we are thinking about and praying for them.
Project Goal $5000 USD
-
Funds received will support 200 families.
-
$50 will provide flour, rice, pasta, and hygiene supplies for one family of Christ followers.
-
$25 (one half of what is received) will be shared by each of these families with a non-Christian family in their community.
This project is overseen by Doug Hiebert, Multiply’s Regional Team Leader for Sub-Saharan Africa, in partnership with local leaders and partners on the ground. Donors contributing to this project will be kept informed through reports from the field forwarded by our Donor Engagement Team.
