The Pickaxe Project

Germany is one of the most historically Christianized countries in the world, yet today there is great skepticism toward faith systems, and overall disillusionment with faith institutions. Despite this, there is a deep spiritual hunger; Europeans are searching for meaning, justice, beauty, and healing. Although many people would never walk into a church, this hunger expresses itself in a strong passion for music and the arts. The Pickaxe Project seeks to embrace this as an opportunity to engage a post-Christian culture with the relevancy of the Gospel.

The Pickaxe Project is a creative initiative that partners with various churches in Germany to engage spiritually curious Europeans with the hope of the Gospel, using original music, live performances, art, media, and meaningful conversations. What began as a small worship collective in Dortmund has grown into a missional arts movement, creating spaces in cafés, clubs, and cultural venues where people can wrestle honestly with questions of faith, suffering, identity, and hope. Through concerts, storytelling, and online engagement across Germany, the Pickaxe Project aims to help others to encounter the Gospel in unexpected places, by bringing Jesus into the cultural spaces of Europe.

Donations to this project will support album production, visual storytelling, promotional media, and live events throughout Europe that help foster conversations about faith.
