Dear Friends,

Today, I want to give you a chance to be involved right at the beginning of something new. I am very excited about how God is leading us as a global mission family into the future and opening new doors for the Gospel in faraway places as well as close to home. We are grateful for opportunities to engage different people groups around the world and to embrace new areas of ministry. Will you join us in prayer and consider a financial gift, so we can respond together to these unique opportunities?

We are grateful for the support we’ve received from people like you who have contributed to our Global Ministry Expansion Fund in recent years. This fund is helping our regional leadership respond quickly to new opportunities for the Gospel, venture out in high-task experimental ministry, and support promising new initiatives. Together, we explored possibilities for growing disciples in Mongolia through an agricultural project, we began testing the idea of using community development in Cambodia to reach villages for Christ, we sent a scouting and prayer team to the Middle East, we helped to strengthen a fledgling church planting network in South Asia, and we coordinated meetings with an MB Congolese leader in the US who is working with new immigrants. These are only some examples of the initiatives that the Global Ministry Expansion Fund is helping to support.

This year, we are very excited about two new opportunities that I want to share with you:

Sudan

Our Regional Team Leader for the Middle East and North Africa, Nasser al’Qahtani, is working closely with a local church leader in Egypt who was formerly a missionary in Sudan. They were both in Sudan last year for a unique mission training event, which brought together a group of young leaders that were trained and then sent out to share the Gospel on the streets. It was a transformative experience for the participants. Since that event, the Gospel has multiplied in that country and there are now four generations of impact in peoples’ lives as a result.

Our goal is to support Nasser and Irfan so they can facilitate longer-term discipleship opportunities for these young leaders in Sudan.

Rather than just a one-time training event, we want to kickstart a two-year strategy that will provide at least six installments of Bible teaching and training, so that a group of about forty young church leaders could receive valuable investment in their lives on three main topics: discipleship, missional living, and leadership training.

“All of these young believers in Sudan are from non-Christian backgrounds,” said Irfan. “They have given their lives to Christ and have a deep desire to not only lead their churches well but also to reach out to their communities with the Gospel.”

Through giving to the Global Ministry Expansion Fund, you will be investing in these young Sudanese leaders and in future generations of the Church in this needy country.

Afghans in Canada

Another unique opportunity that we are eager to encourage and engage is among new immigrants to Canada from Afghanistan. As in many places throughout North America, there are thousands of refugees arriving in Canada from crisis-ridden countries like Afghanistan. For Multiply, this provides not only an opportunity to share the Gospel with new immigrants but also an opportunity to train and resource churches to mobilize local disciples to meet the needs of these newcomers.

One MB church in Canada is now hosting an Afghan church and is actively engaged in helping the new immigrants practically find their way in Canada. The congregation is being led by a former missionary to Afghanistan who had returned to Canada because of the ongoing war in Afghanistan. He was unsure of what God had for him back in Canada. Now, this missionary is pastoring a beautifully diverse group of people from the country where he formerly served.

“For the first month, we focused on hosting a lunch every week,” said the pastor, “to provide a meal for these newcomers and to share the love of Jesus with them. When we saw their hunger for the Gospel, we decided to start a church and there were about sixty people at our first service.”

Now, in addition to weekly worship, there are various support services that are offered to the newcomers including helping them find housing and jobs, giving rides to doctor’s appointments, as well as providing English classes and organizing soccer games. The host MB church is not only supplying their resources, but their members are becoming more and more engaged in making a difference in the lives of these precious immigrants.

Conclusion

God is at work in our world, and he is calling us to partner with him. Will you join us in embracing these new opportunities for the Gospel?

We’ve already received strong support for this Global Ministry Expansion Fund in 2022 and yet $80,000 USD is still needed for us to respond to new mission opportunities like those mentioned above. I would like to invite you to contribute financially to this fund so that more people worldwide will have a chance to hear the Gospel and experience the love of Jesus.

As you consider giving, please continue to pray for these new initiatives that you’ve just read about, as well as others that will emerge in the year ahead. It is our heart to be faithful to God with what he has entrusted to us. Let’s give thanks for God’s gracious involvement in our world today and let’s expect good fruit in the days ahead. May God continue to inspire us to work together that the world may know Jesus.

For his kingdom and his glory,
