Lithuania is a country where many people are living in darkness. Many children are still growing up in orphanages, abandoned by their parents. Depression, alcoholism and drug addiction are leaving people without hope. Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world. Many Lithuanians have a traditionalistic view of church, mixed with paganism. It’s very hard ground for the Gospel, as many people are inclined to put their hope in wealth rather than Jesus. Our team in Lithuania believes that the church can bring hope and freedom from darkness. Their desire is to bring the Good News of Jesus to young people so that they can understand that church doesn’t have to be a place trapped in tradition. A new Christian culture, with an emphasis on Jesus, will bring hope and revival to Lithuania. The team is building relationships through Alpha courses, vibrant church gatherings and home groups tailored for those experiencing loneliness and depression. Their message is that God is able to bring hope and restoration for the brokenhearted, and that he will bind up their wounds.
